Cartersville Fugitive Turns Himself In

Seddrick Banks is accused of beating a woman with a baseball bat and holding her captive inside his home.

A man wanted for allegedly assaulting and holding a woman captive has turned himself into authorities.

Seddrick Damond Banks, 21, of Cartersville turned himself in Tuesday evening to the Bartow County Jail on aggravated assault, battery and false imprisonment charges.

According to an incident report released by the Cartersville Police Department, Banks on Feb. 19 showed up to the place of employment of the victim and demanded she leave. The victim said she left, which caused her to be fired, because she was afraid of Banks.

When Cartersville officers were called out to 242 Etowah Drive on Feb. 20, the victim said Banks made her and his two children lie on the floor of the home so officers would not discover they were inside the home, the report states. During that day, the woman said Banks allegedly beat her with a baseball bat and a metal pipe from a chair inside the home.

The woman on that same day said she called a taxi cab so she could drive to the hospital for treatment. However, the woman said Banks intercepted her attempt to leave, and forced her back inside.

According to the report, the woman said Banks did not allow her to leave until the evening of Feb. 26.

The woman told authorities Banks "often carried weapons and that he had told her that he would not go back to jail."

"She also advised that if officers came into his home "he would open fire (shoot) at officers," the report states.

She also said he often kept drugs such as marijuana and methamphetamine inside his home.

In addition to the two most recent charges, Banks was also wanted on battery (FVA) and probation violation for aggravated assault, possession of a firearm and and robbery by force charges.
