Burglars Target Homes, Offices

Cartersville police recorded several burglaries overnight.

In addition to three residential burglaries on Remington and Estate drives, a business and county office building were burglarized last night.

According to the incident reports, a man called 911 about 12:30 a.m. Thursday to report two Bartow County transit buses had been driven through a fence at a .

Police found the building β€” which houses the transit department, United Way, Tallatoona CAP, and Bartow County health and resources departments β€” had been burglarized. An investigator responded to collect blood and saliva evidence apparently left by those responsible.

The buses, valued at $92,000, were later recovered by deputies in the Middlebrook subdivision on Cassville Road.

Police say in addition to damage caused by breaking the locks on doors inside the building and a drink machine, some offices had been searched and drawers damaged.

A flat screen TV valued at $500 was taken from Tallatoona CAP's office. In the health department's teen room, officers found phrases written on a dry erase board β€” "on da wii" and "B.A.M. Ent." The room also had been sprayed with a fire extinguisher in addition to computer screens busted with an unknown object.
