Boy, 11, Steps into Traffic, Suffers Serious Injury

The boy, who was airlifted to an Atlanta hospital with a possible broken leg, and his father were attempting to cross Cassville Road in Cartersville.

A boy who stepped into the side of a moving vehicle in Cartersville was airlifted to an Atlanta hospital with a serious leg injury, according to the Georgia State Patrol and Bartow County Sheriff's Office.

The child, Ean Xavier Jobgen, 11, of Cartersville, and his father were attempting to cross Cassville Road at Dean Street when about 4 p.m. he stepped into the side of a northbound Jeep Wrangler, according to GSP spokesman Gordy Wright.

Jobgen was airlifted to Scottish Rite children's hospital with a possible broken leg. The driver of the Jeep, a local man, will face no charges, Wright said.

Cassville Road was closed for some time, but re-opened by about 6:30 p.m.
