Reported Sunday, July 9, 6 p.m.

Local authorities are working to determine what led to the death of a man whose body was found by motorists on Collins Drive.

According to police scanner traffic, emergency crews received several calls reporting the white male was not breathing and was bleeding from the head, chest and arm.

He was lying in the roadway on Collins Drive about 50 to 70 yards from toward North Tennessee Street, according to the police scanner. Callers reported the man's body was still warm, but he was deceased when authorities arrived on scene.

reported a Police Officer G.D. Barry said the man, around 50 years old, suffered only abrasions. It's unclear how the man who had no identification died, but authorities are looking into several possibilities — a hit and run or the body was dumped at the location.
