Bartow County authorities have arrested a man on charges of picking up a juvenile from North Carolina and bringing the child back to Georgia where they engaged in sexual activity.
The Bartow County Sheriff's Office has charged Matthew Mastrom, 30, of White, with interference with child custody, two counts of aggravated child molestation, seven counts of child molestation, statutory rape, enticing a child for indecent purposes and obstruction of an officer.
Bartow Sheriff Clark Millsap said authorities from North Carolina on May 28 contacted his agency and asked if they could help them locate a runway child they believed was at a residence in White.
Once deputies arrived at the home, they made contact with Matthew Mastrom, who "admitted the juvenile was currently in his home."
"Further investigation revealed that Mastrom had traveled from Georgia to North Carolina to pick up the juvenile and upon their return to Georgia they became involved in a sexual relationship," the agency said in a press release.
Mastrom was booked into the Bartow County Jail.
