Bartow Firefighters Collect $7K for Red Cross

The money will be used for disaster relief in Bartow County as part of the American Red Cross' Heroes Campaign.

Bartow County Fire Department firefighters recently donated $7,003 to disaster relief efforts in Bartow County as part of the American Red Cross' Heroes Campaign.

The funds were collected in the department's annual boot drive and are the first donation to the Heroes Campaign, which is set to kick off April 1.

The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters; supplies more than 40 percent of the nation's blood; teaches skills that save lives; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a not-for-profit organization that depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission.
