Armed Man Arrested After Fleeing Cops
The suspect showed a hidden weapon to a law enforcement officer after a short foot chase in the Benefield Circle area.
One man was arrested after showing law enforcement officers he had a weapon, fleeing and then hiding in a building on Benefield Circle.
According to an incident report, a Bartow County Sheriff's Office deputy saw 23-year-old Jeremy Buffington walking on Benefield Circle near Evergreen Trail and, as he parked his patrol car, noticed Buffington run away. After a short foot chase, Buffington stopped and pulled up a shirt, exposing a black handgun tucked into the waistband of his pants.
When Buffington put his hand on the weapon, the officer hid behind a building on Evergreen Trail, pulling his firearm. The officer then saw something black fly through the air before Buffington began running again down Benefield Circle. A black Glock was found on the ground approximately 30 yards away, its trigger pulled to the rear. There were no rounds in the chamber. According to an officer with the Canton Police Department, the weapon was stolen from a car parked on McClain Circle in Canton.
