Apartment Heavily Damaged in Fire

Red Cross assisted displaced residents following the Tuesday night blaze on Ridge Row in Cartersville.

An Ivy Mill apartment was heavily damaged in a Tuesday night fire, displacing its residents, Battalion Chief Mark Bagley said.

Fire crews arrived at the 51 Ridge Row apartment building within 4 minutes of the 10:05 p.m. call for help. Firefighters reported heavy flames and smoke, but were able to contain fire damage to unit 107.

An adjacent apartment sustained smoke damage, according to Bagley.

Red Cross was called in to assist residents displaced by what fire officials described as heavy fire damage.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
