Alcohol Involved in Serious Crash

Authorities say the vehicle ran a red light, failed to stop for police and crashed into a culvert.

Two men were injured a Thursday car crash on Bishop Road. Authorities say a deputy spotted the 1990 Oldsmobile Delta run a red light at Grassdale and Bishop roads and attempted a traffic stop.

According to the incident report, the car continued on Bishop Road, crossed the center and fog lines several times and struck a mailbox. The deputy told the occupants to stop the car, but it continued through a yard and onto Bishop Road.

A passerby had blocked the road with his vehicle, and the allegedly fleeing vehicle tried to continue past it, but struck the other car. Deputies say two men in the car refused deputy's orders to get out and continued into a ditch and back onto Bishop Road.

Officers then tried to catch up with the men's car and found it had crashed into a culvert at Bishop and Baker roads. The driver was unconscious and bleeding heavily from the head.

Authorities identify him as Bradley Scott Stiner, 45, of 1942 Cassville Road in Cartersville. Stiner was air lifted to an Atlanta-area hospital.

In addition to open containers of alcoholic beverages in the car, police say there was a strong odor of the same about the vehicle.

The passenger, Willie Walter Tidwell, 65, of 3-A Patterson Drive in Cartersville, was taken to the local hospital for treatment and released. He was arrested and charged with obstruction of an officer and also had a bench warrant for failing to appear in Superior Court.

Stiner faces charges of obstruction of an officer, fleeing or attempting to elude police, failure to stop at a red light and failure to maintain lane. He also could face charges from , which investigated the crash.
