Acworth Man Leads Deputies on Chase
Bartow County Sheriff's Office authorities Friday arrested a man who visited the lobby of the sheriff's office, learned he had outstanding arrest warrants and allegedly fled.
An Acworth man Friday led Bartow County Sheriff's Office deputies on chase that ended on Interstate 75 near Cobb County.
According to Sheriff Clark Millsap, Gregory Ernest Gann, Jr, 23, formerly of Cartersville, was in the lobby of the sheriffβs office Friday speaking with administrative personnel. It was discovered that Gann had an active warrant for probation violation and he fled prior to being arrested.
About 1:30 p.m., a patrol deputy spotted Gann driving his red Mercury Sable in Acworth on Arrington Road and attempted to stop him. Gann allegedly fled in his vehicle and a chase ensued.

Gann drove into Cherokee County and then Cobb County attempting to elude the patrol car. Georgia State Patrol joined the pursuit and shortly after entering the interstate in southbound lanes from Highway 92, Gann pulled to the side of the road and was arrested.
In addition to the original warrant for probation violation, Gann faces new charges of fleeing or attempting to elude and reckless driving.
