5 Arrested in Cocaine, Pot Trafficking, Firearms Case

Cartersville-Bartow County Drug Task Force authorities say they found about 11 pounds of marijuana and 3 ounces of cocaine.

Bartow-Cartersville Drug Task Force agents, part of the Federal Bureau of Investigations Safe Streets Task Force, along with officers from the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office, Dunwoody Police Department, Georgia State Patrol and U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force on Wednesday arrested five individuals on various drug and gun charges. 

DTF Commander Capt. Mark Mayton said in a news release authorities were trying to find a subject who was wanted in connection with a shooting that occurred in Dunwoody.  

They arrested Anthony Eugene Thompson, 41, of Kingston, on an aggravated assault charged Michael Duane Williams on a probation violation in College Park.

During the investigation, which resulted in the execution of a search warrant at a hotel in Cartersville, officers also found about 11 pounds of suspected marijuana, more than 3 ounces of alleged cocaine, two firearms, one of which had been reported stolen, and $2,402 in cash.  

Three others also were arrested in connection with the guns and alleged narcotics—William Christopher Gamble, Pamela Yvette Maxwell and Terrence Jerome Thompson.

The investigation continues and agents expect more arrests in the near future. 

Those arrested and the charges they face include: 

  • Anthony Eugene Thompson, 41, of 924 Reynolds Bridge Road in Kingston was arrested and charged with Trafficking Marijuana, Trafficking Cocaine, Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Drug Felony, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Simple Battery and Aggravated Assault. 
  • Michael Duane Williams, 26, of 1955 Fairburn Road in Atlanta was arrested and charged with Not Wearing a Seat Belt, Possession of Marijuana with Intent To Distribute, Trafficking Marijuana, Trafficking Cocaine, Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Drug Felony, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property and Probation Violation.
  • Terrence Jerome Thompson, 37, of 195 Fairburn Road in Atlanta was arrested and charged with being a Party to the Crime of Trafficking Marijuana, Party to the Crime of Trafficking Cocaine, Possession of a Firearm during a Drug Felony and Theft by Receiving Stolen Property.
  • William Christopher Gamble, 22, of 146 Jones St. in Cartersville was arrested and charged with being a Party to the Crime of Trafficking Marijuana, Party to the Crime of Trafficking Cocaine, Possession of a Firearm during a Drug Felony and Theft by Receiving Stolen Property.
  • Pamela Yvette Maxwell, 42, of 394 Reynolds Bridge Road in Kingston was arrested and charged with Trafficking Marijuana, Trafficking Cocaine, Possession of a Firearm during a Drug Felony and Theft by Receiving Stolen Property.
