"You never become a man until you lose your dad," Walker posted on his website, along with a photo of a Walker family crest tattoo. "Rest In Peace, 'Big' Butch Walker. I love you so much."The elder Walker also leaves behind a wife and two daughters who are local residents, according to his obituary. His memorial service is set for Sunday, Aug. 25, at 3 p.m., at Trinity United Methodist Church, where he was a member.
The younger Walker grew up in Cartersville, but left for fame in 1988, according to Wikipedia. Now at age 43, he is "one of America's best singer-songwriters," as named by Rolling Stone magazine, according to a Billboard.com story announcing a new documentary film.
Butch Walker: Out of Focus is expected to be released in September.
