Senior 'Butch' Walker, Cartersville Resident Passes Away
The father of Marvelous 3 frontman, SouthGang lead guitarist and Cartersville native "Butch" Walker died this morning at the age of 72.
Marvelous 3 frontman, SouthGang lead guitarist and Cartersville native "Butch" Walker is mourning the loss of his father, local resident Willard Eugene "Butch" Walker, who died this morning at the age of 72.
"You never become a man until you lose your dad," Walker posted on his website, along with a photo of a Walker family crest tattoo. "Rest In Peace, 'Big' Butch Walker. I love you so much."
The elder Walker also leaves behind a wife and two daughters who are local residents, according to his obituary. His memorial service is set for Sunday, Aug. 25, at 3 p.m., at Trinity United Methodist Church, where he was a member.The younger Walker grew up in Cartersville, but left for fame in 1988, according to Wikipedia. Now at age 43, he is "one of America's best singer-songwriters," as named by Rolling Stone magazine, according to a Billboard.com story announcing a new documentary film.
Butch Walker: Out of Focus is expected to be released in September.
