Obituary: Roy C. Frye, Amateur Artist Who Loved the Gospel

Frye was buried at Sunset Memory Gardens.

The following obituary was submitted by Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services:  

Roy C. Frye, 85, of Cartersville passed away on Friday, Feb. 21, 2014 at his residence. 

Born on March 19, 1928 in Fillmore, Illinois, he was the son of the late Autie Simion Frye and the late Ruby Fern Davidson Frye. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, in 2002, Delores L. Frye; his brothers, Joseph A. Frye, Charles W. Frye and Tony F. Frye; and his daughter-in-law, Lynn Marie Frye.

Roy was an inspector for Inland Steel until his retirement. He was known as hardworking and always punctual. He was a member of Peeples Valley Baptist Church who enjoyed singing in the choir and all through the house.

Roy enjoyed his quiet time and he loved to share the Gospel. He was a devoted man to whatever activity he was involved in. He was an amateur artist who enjoyed painting and drawing. Roy was a loving father and husband and will be greatly missed. 

Survivors include his wife of ten years, Gail Boren Frye of Cartersville; his daughters and sons-in-law, Debra Lynn and Peter Kroner of Arcadia, Florida and Rhonda Kaye and Robert Hunter of Canton; his sons and daughter-in-law, Roy David and Dori Frye of Oswego, Illinois and Mark Randall Frye of Rensselaer, Indiana; his stepchildren, Tracy Morris Boggs of Rydal and Deloris Elaine and William D. Watkins of White; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home with the Reverend Darrell Bailey officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. 

Serving as pallbearers will be Cameron Hunter, Jon Parker, Dave Frye, Lance Liley, Bob Carroll and Tom Bentley.
