In Memory: Evelyn Howard, Former Bank Manager

Evelyn Howard was employed as a branch officer and manager with First Bank and Trust in Acworth until she retired.

Evelyn Coker Howard, 88, of Cartersville passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at Star Manor in Cartersville. 

Born in Dalton on Nov.10, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Lucius L. Coker and the late Inez Nations Coker. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Irene Coker and Christine Bowlin. Howard was employed as a Branch Officer and Manager with First Bank and Trust in Acworth until her retirement. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Woodstock. Howard was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She lived for her Lord and savior every day of her life. 

Survivors include her husband of sixty-two years, the Rev. William T. Howard, Jr. of Cartersville; her daughters and son-in-law, Brenda Howard Rakestraw of Cartersville and Cindy Howard Baker and Archie W. Baker of McDonough; her son and daughter-in-law, William T. Howard, III and Beverly Howard of Cartersville; her step-daughter and spouse, Judy and Joe Purcell of Dalton; her stepson and his spouse, Gary and Mary Howard of Chatsworth; her grandchildren and their spouses, Tori Rakestraw Brumlow and Ryan Brumlow of Cumming, Jack Howard of Cartersville, Sam Howard of Cartersville, Will Baker and Tiffany Baker of Monticello, Luke Baker of McDonough and Jake Baker of McDonough; and her niece, Bobbie Cassell of Indiana. 

Howard will lie in state from 1-2 p.m. prior to the funeral. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens at 3:30 p.m. The family received friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. 

Serving as pallbearers will be Greg Sanders, Jeff Brewer, David Davis, Derek Davis, Dustin Davis and Daniel Davis.
