Bartow Winds To Perform 'Celebration of Independence' at Cartersville Depot

The community concert band is set to take center stage at the Cartersville Depot on Saturday, June 29, for a Fourth of July show.

The Bartow Winds Community Concert Band is set to take center stage at the Cartersville Depot on Saturday, June 29, for a Fourth of July show. 

It kicks off at 6:30 p.m. with a performance by Old Mill Road Band, a progressive bluegrass band with a wide range of musical styling and genres. At 7 p.m., Bartow Winds will stimulate the crowds with their rendition of patriotic themes to celebrate the independence of our nation.

Founded in 2009 by Michael Elzey, the Bartow Winds Concert Band has quickly gained a reputation of presenting quality concerts that are enjoyed by people of all ages. Bartow Winds is currently made up of 60-plus members ranging from high school students to older adults.

Bartow Winds' annual concerts include concerts in the early Spring, the "Celebration of Independence," held the weekend of July 4th, and their annual Christmas concert, held in early December. 

Bartow Winds was founded on the principle of giving back to the community and they continue to do that today by donating all proceeds from each concert to numerous local charities in the north Georgia area. Past beneficiaries of Bartow Winds include Advocates for Children, the Etowah Education Foundation and the local music programs of Bartow County.

“Our interests are simple. We consistently strive for the raised awareness of how important music and the arts are to our community and for the betterment of the community,” Elsey said in a release.

Bartow Winds members encourage everyone to come to Friendship Plaza and enjoy this free concert to begin July 4th celebrations a little early.
