2 Fireworks Displays Set for Cartersville on Labor Day

Fourth of July fireworks were rescheduled to Monday, Sept. 2, when Pioneer Days, a four-day festival, wraps up with a second fireworks display.

Due to thunderstorms and heavy rain that soaked Cartersville during the Fourth of July holiday, locals are set to be treated to two fireworks shows this Labor Day.

Stars, Stripes and Cartersville, the annual Fourth of July celebration, was rescheduled for Monday, Sept. 2. Host the Cartersville Optimist Club now is calling it Labor Day at Dellinger Park, according to the Cartersville-Bartow County Convention & Visitors Bureau.

The annual four-day festival, Pioneer Days, also is set for the Labor Day holiday and will include a fireworks display at Cartersville's Sam Smith Park.

Pioneer Days, operated by Acworth nonprofit Allatoona Charities, offers carnival rides and games, a variety of entertainment and arts and crafts, according its website. Its schedule is:

  • Friday, Aug. 30: 4 to 11 p.m.
  • Saturday, Aug. 31: noon to 11 p.m.
  • Sunday, Sept. 1: noon to 11 p.m.
  • Monday, Sept. 2: noon to 10 p.m.
Pioneer Days' fireworks show is set for dusk on Monday, Sept. 2, but will start after the fireworks at Dellinger Park, according to organizers.

Labor Day at Dellinger Park
What: Pony and camel rides, a petting zoo, children's activities, craft vendors, musical entertainment, and food, including Johnny Mitchell's Smokehouse barbecue sales, beginning at 10 a.m.
Where: Dellinger Park
Fireworks: Set to begin at dusk or about 9 to 9:15 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 2, or Labor Day; will precede nearby fireworks display at the Pioneer Days festival. 

Pioneer Days
What: Four-day festival with carnival rides and games for all ages; singers, musicians, dancers and cloggers to entertain; arts and crafts; and food.
Where: Sam Smith Park
Fireworks: Set to begin at dusk on Monday, Sept. 2, or Labor Day; will follow nearby fireworks display at Dellinger Park.
