During today’s Hayden Collins Radio Program we had some very interesting events take place.
The show was taking its normal chaos as the outline and changes were up to show time at noon. Interns from Georgia Highlands running about the station getting ready for guest candidates who are running for local office.
As the show progressed we were in our second hour and Sandra was helping with the efforts in the station kitchen. This was base for the video preparation and audio file tracking. As I was on the air with a candidate we could hear several sirens in the background. And just after I went off the air I discovered that the parking lot was filled with cops and the kitchen was a buzz of activity.
A couple of the candidates were watching the events unfold as a suspect was about the property as a threat and the cops were on the job searching the area. As I was on the air the story had to be related to me.
The moment described is a very proud moment for a man knowing that his wife has confidence to secure the situation.
This story goes like this, the cops chase the would-be bad guy on the radio station property and the police cars fill the driveway. In the station, they lock the door and a minor conversation takes place. We were all concerned with safety. One of the guys said that he didn’t have his gun with him as he was in campaign mode.
Sandra responds, “Oh that’s OK I have mine.” This brought a smile to everyone’s face. “I have my concealed carry with me and I have been trained to use my weapon safety. I have six rounds and if he comes through that door he will not like the results.”
At this time Sandra took advantage of the conversation and asked the candidates what they felt about concealed carry and the Second Amendment.
Needless to say, the room was filled with conservatives and it was a very positive response.
The cops secured the situation and all was well. As we rotated guest to the sound studio with the guys that were in the kitchen during the event one of the best questions a host could be asked took place.
“Were you worried about your wife?” My response was, “Not one bit, she has been trained by the best.”
In humor and guest, I followed it up with, “My wife knows EVIL when she sees it...implying that she fears no one after living with me LOL.”
Just another day at the station with The Hayden Collins Radio Program.
