Red Cross Honors Bartow 'Heroes' for Fundraiser

They include Craig Millsap of Bartow County Fire Department; Erick Housch of United Community Bank in Adairsville; Janet Queen of Georgia Power at Plant Bowen; and Stephanie Williams of Microtel Inns & Suites.

For more than 95 years, the volunteers of the Northwest Georgia Chapter have been heroes for thousands of people throughout northwest Georgia, lending aid during times of disaster, supporting military families and training citizens in lifesaving CPR and first aid skills.  

During July, a group of local “Heroes” raised $20,673 to help the Red Cross continue its services in Gordon and Bartow Counties.

The “Heroes” were honored at a breakfast meeting in August in Calhounwhere Red Cross thanked them for their hard work on behalf of the residents of Gordon and Bartow Counties.

“The success of this year’s campaign is a testament to the hard work of our heroes and the generosity of our community. The money raised will go a long way to helping families in Gordon and Bartow counties prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies,” Executive Director Jeffrey Putnam said in a release.  “Everyone involved can truly take pride in knowing they have made a difference in the lives of their neighbors.”
