Annie Nations is the matriarch of a family that has lived on their land for three generations. It is 1983 and Annie's husband, Hector, has been dead for five years leaving her to carry on with the back-breaking chores. Her son Dillard is back home and determined to take Annie to live with him in the modern world of running water and electricity. A real estate developer and a local girl have some input into Annie's decision to leave the land, as does Hector...who only appears to Annie. It is a heart-warming story of places and times dear to the heart.
