Stokley Street Shooting Suspect Jailed in Cartersville

The man accused of shooting a woman in the leg was apprehended by the U.S. Marshals.

William Dexter Weems Jr., 23, was booked into the Bartow County jail on Tuesday and charged with aggravated assault and battery in addition to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and a probation violation.

Cartersville police say the man accused of shooting a woman in the leg has been apprehended by the U.S. Marshals.

Capt. Mark Camp said William Dexter Weems Jr., 23, was arrested yesterday in connection with the June 13 incident.

Weems allegedly shot his girlfriend's sister during an argument between the three. No word yet on what the alleged fight was about.

She was taken to Floyd Medical Center for treatment, and another woman involved was taken to Cartersville Medical Center with complaints of superficial injuries, according to police.
