Severe Thunderstorms Remain in Today's Forecast

Wind gusts, large hail, locally heavy rain – and even a tornado – are possible with these weather conditions.

Cartersville is under a hazardous weather outlook by the National Weather Service, with a forecast of showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before 1 p.m.

The potential for strong to isolated severe thunderstorms continues as a low pressure system and a cold front move across the region. Any severe thunderstomrs will be capable of producting damanging wind gusts, large hail and locally heavy rainfall.

An isolated tornado is also possible as low level wind shear increases along and south of the warm front as it lifts into central Georgia this morning.

Monday through Saturday a colder air mass will settle over the region, with higher elevations of North Georgia possibly getting a wintry mix of rain and snow tonight and Monday night.

The chance for rain today is 90 percent, falling to 40 percent tonight.
