Originally found only in Japan, the Akita has increasingly become a popular breed in America. Known for their stand-up ears, curly tail and double coat, the Akitas were bred for bear or deer hunting.
This is Kia, a beautiful, fluffy version of the Akita. He's 18 months old and has been vetted, neutered and has a microchip. He's already been tested negative for heartworm and is ready to go home with a new family.
Akitas are known to be a standoffish breed and isn't known for slobbery welcomes, but they are very loyal to members of their own family, while remaining protective.
