Toyo To Create Up To 700 New Jobs In Bartow

With the fourth expansion of its facility in Bartow County, Toyo Tires plans to create up to 700 new jobs in four years.

Gov. Nathan Deal visited the U.S. Highway 411 plant today for an official groundbreaking ceremony.

Jim Hawk, president of Toyo Tires North America Manufacturing, said the Japan-based company already has invested $692 million in the 1.9 million-square-feet facility near Cartersville and created 1,100 "well-paying" jobs in Bartow.

It plans to invest another $275 million in the next two years, add another 1 million square feet to the plant and create 450 new jobs by the end of 2015, and depending on market conditions, possibly an additional 250 positions by the end of 2017.

Last week, the Bartow County manufacturing facility marked a milestone with the production of 20 million tires.
