Sunday Sales Begin Aug. 12 in County

Bartow County voters have approved and now Commissioner Clarence Brown has passed an ordinance allowing package sales of malt liquor on Sundays.

Malt liquor will be sold in Bartow County stores on Sundays beginning this Sunday, Aug. 12.

More than 56 percent of the 16,000 votes on the referendum in were in support, and Commissioner Clarence Brown approved the ordinance amendment yesterday in a public meeting.

It amends local law governing licenses and sales to include package sales of beer and wine on Sundays between 12:30 and 11:30 p.m.

In November, city of Cartersville voters when voters in cities and counties across Georgia had their first chance to eye the measure, and with a resounding yes.

In April, Brown —5 to 10 percent—to Cartersville businesses already selling on Sundays. That was despite an apparent for some stores in Cartersville and a mishap that had a store in the county an apparent result of the company officials' confusion over jurisdiction.
