Sunday Package Sales for Bartow?

How will you vote on the alcohol referendum? Commissioner Clarence Brown has put it on the ballot.

In addition to contested local races and key issues such as jobs, industry growth and business development, the July 31st primary election is set to decide if Sunday sales of packaged alcohol should be allowed in Bartow County.

In November, city of Cartersville voters , with more than 21 percent of about 9,300 registered voters casting ballots. Voters in cities and counties across Georgia had their first chance to approve the measure, and with a resounding yes.

Commissioner Clarence Brown today announced Bartow's referendum, citing stores in the county are losing money—so far 5 to 10 percent—to Cartersville businesses already selling on Sundays, reports.

That's despite an apparent for some stores in Cartersville and a mishap that had a store in the county an apparent result of the company officials' confusion over jurisdiction.
