Steak 'n Shake Comes to Cartersville

Bids are out for construction of the new eatery on Main Street near Kohl's and Regions Bank. Groundbreaking is expected next month.

In addition to a new Dunkin Donuts, Walgreen's and Bojangles, a Steak 'n Shake restaurant is coming to Cartersville, according to a city planning document, attached.

Set for 610 E. Main Street, the building will be in front of Kohl's and next to Regions Bank along the corridor connecting Interstate 75 to Highway 41 and downtown Cartersville.

Local attorney Jeff Watkins is the franchisee, The Daily Tribune News reports.

"We’re moving forward quickly trying to get to a point where we can start construction sometime in November and then hopefully have it open around March, weather permitting," Watkins told the newspaper.

Now the nearest premium burger and milk shake restaurants are in Acworth and Kennesaw and in Rome, where a new Steak 'n Shake Classic opened Sept. 22, according to the company's website.

"I think it puts Cartersville on a different level as far as for certain types of quality restaurants, because they are very selective in where they allow their restaurants and there’s a lot of requirements that go into it and I think they thought a lot of Cartersville and thought it’d be a great place for it,” Watkins said, according to The Daily Tribune News.
