Restaurant Review: Louie's Café

Eat well, drink well at Louie's.

I recently went to for the first time and ended up having a great lunch while making friends with the owners. I’d like to think I’m special, but from what I could gather, most of the people who stop by the café become friends with the owners. It’s just that kind of place, where a customer is a friend.

I visited Louie’s Café on a Monday at 1:45 p.m. with my 8-month old baby in tow.  We were greeted by the familiar sound of a baby laughing. That laughter was coming from 1-year-old little Louie who was in residence, running around the restaurant keeping everyone entertained. The two babies hit it off and had an informal play date while I placed my order for a grilled chicken salad and talked (baby) shop with little Louie’s mom, Mary Elizabeth.

Louie’s Café is a modern establishment with its finger on the pulse of what’s popular, from fancy coffee drinks to paninis, yet it also manages to have an old time soda fountain feel, especially at the counter where you place your order.

My salad was plentiful with an assortment of fresh vegetables. When you place your order you are free to customize it because everything is made from scratch while you wait. It’s literally fresh food fast. While my salad was delicious and nutritious, the brownie I ordered for dessert was just over the top. Yummy decadence! I would go back daily just for the brownies if I could justify the calories.

Louie’s Café has all its bases covered, from a full coffee bar with a drive through window to breakfast, lunch and Friday night dinners. It also has spacious seating, giant brownies, fruit smoothies, daily specials and catering. If you’re not sure where to go, just go to Louie’s because it probably has something you’re craving.
