LakePoint Wake Park Gets a Name

What you think of the winning submission, chosen from more than 1,000 entries in the Name the Park Contest for a wakeboard park at Emerson's future "sports mecca?"

People from all over the world suggested a total of more than 1,000 names for a wakeboard park in the works at LakePoint Sporting Community & Town Center. And the winning entry in Wake Park Atlanta's Name the Park Contest is: Terminus Wake Park.

Terminus, with two full-cable lakes and a smaller straight-line lake, will of the sports development just outside , officials said in a press release.

“The closer and closer we get to construction, the more excited we get about bringing this fun and exciting sport to the Greater Atlanta area,” Wake Park Atlanta principal Austin Singleton added in the release. “The contest was just another indicator of how excited people are to have a world-class facility that will accommodate every skill level of wakeboarders from all over the Southeast.”

While LakePoint—a 1,400-acre development to include a 300-acre sports complex for baseball, lacrosse and soccer tournaments; —is set to be a for Bartow County and beyond, Terminus' custom obstacles will be a first of a kind. The park’s signature will be an elaborate series of rails and obstacles, many of which are not available in the United States.

“As one of the most ambitious projects in the country, LakePoint is truly going to be a sports mecca,” LakePoint Developers partner Judy Sparks said in the release. “We are excited to offer not only team sports, but water sports for every skill level.”

Merriam-Webster in part defines Terminus as a final goal or finishing point and an extreme point or element.
