Goodwill To Host Job Fairs With Nearly 80 Employers Expected

Goodwill is set to hold job fairs at its nine career centers, including its Cartersville location, Wednesday, Jan. 15. Nearly 80 companies in total will seek to recruit workers for professional, warehouse and retail positions.

A list confirmed companies on the Goodwill's website includes Shaw Industries, Home Depot, Walgreens and Wells Fargo for the Cartersville career center.

Other locations include Rome and Woodstock

“Each of our career centers holds regular job fairs, but for 'New Year. New Job.' we’ve combined our efforts to create a single-day impact,” Elaine Armstrong, director of public relations, said in a press release. Goodwill has additional career centers in Athens, Atlanta, Decatur, Duluth, Oakwood and Smyrna. 

Each location will host a job fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Attendees should arrive in professional interview attire and bring several copies of their resumes.

The nonprofit, known for its donation centers and stores, uses the money from its donated goods program to fund its career centers and employment services. The facilities have become a resource for more than 40,000 job seekers and thousands of area businesses looking to hire staff, an announcement said.

Equipped with computers, local job postings, photocopiers, telephones and other resources, Goodwill career centers are free and open to the public. Goodwill also provides recruitment fair space, interview rooms and other services for local employers.

“We know many people start the year looking for new job opportunities. This one-day event will allow us to help them connect with employers, while highlighting the myriad of resources each location offers every day,” Armstrong said.
