Fill This Empty Cartersville Storefront: Greg's Tavern

What kind of business do you think should go here?

Some local businesses have been around for years while others have come and gone.

The most recent closure in downtown Cartersville is Greg's Tavern, which closed its doors at the end of December, leaving an empty building on South Erwin Street.

We want to know what businesses you think would do well in that location. What type of business would you like to move into this empty storefront?

How about a locally-owned coffee shop that stays open a little later? If not maybe someone can make a run at bringing back arcades. (kidding on that one ... sorta)

Sounds good, Scott, as long as it has wi-fi. It would be nice to have an alternative to the always-crowded Starbucks.

A lot of people use places such as Starbucks to work on projects due to the wifi. That's caused tensions with that company and patrons. It would be great if instead of a problem someone could get that need for a place to work plus available wifi and turn it into a workable business plan. If it weren't for a lack of capital and an ounce of business sense I'd do it myself.

In response to the ideas of somewhere with free wifi, somewhere that stays open a little later, and even the halfway joking idea of bringing back arcades, I think a great idea for place like this that would satisfy all of those needs would be something similar to a place in Marietta called Battle & Brews. It is kind of a bar atmosphere as they serve beer, and I'm pretty sure other alcohol as well, and have the usual bar food (Hot wings, cheese sticks, fries, etc.) But the cool thing about it is that it's not just a regular bar. It is packed full of arcade games as well as multiple big screen TV's with gaming consoles (xbox, playstation, etc.) connected to them. So you get both the old school arcade games as well as the newer online gaming platforms. You can't get much better than beer and video games! Ohh and, of course, the place offers free wifi as well!... So this kind of business model would meet all the stipulations and suggestions Scott mentioned in his comments.. I think this would take off and do great in this area!
