AT&T to Hire More Than 1K in Georgia

Gov. Nathan Deal made the announcement today.

AT&T will hire workers for more than 1,000 positions throughout Georgia, including nearly 600 new jobs, Gov. Nathan Deal announced today.

The company will "immediately" fill full- and part-time positions in customer support, retail, network construction and maintenance, and other areas.

Wages and benefits will be competitive, according to Deal's office.

"Georgia businesses and consumers are using more communications services such as wireless and broadband," the governor said in a statement. "These jobs will provide opportunities for our citizens in one of the fastest-growing parts of the Georgia economy and will help build critical communications infrastructure and provide customer support."

The new positions announced today are the result of the company's three-year multibillion dollar investment plan to expand its national wireless and wired IP broadband networks.

AT&T currently employs more than 21,000 employees in Georgia.
