AT&T Georgia Gives Tellus $25,000

The grant will support the science museum's education program.

AT&T Georgia will contribute $25,000 to to support educational programs for youth in northwest Georgia and metro Atlanta. The Museum’s educational offerings help contribute to the development of students and encourage them to pursue careers in science, math and engineering.

“The museum’s unique approach to science education is highly regarded by teachers,” said Don Barbour, regional director of AT&T Georgia External Affairs. “We’re proud to support their efforts to encourage science education in the region.

Tellus Science Museum was designed and built to inspire young minds to become excited about science, to provide science teachers with an extended classroom and to offer the public a world-class science museum filled with engaging exhibits.

“With funding assistance from companies like AT&T, the museum can continue to deliver exceptional educational programming and enriching science experiences for our youth,” said Jose Santamaria, executive director.

The museum has positioned itself as a solution to growing concerns about poor student achievement in science and the lack of college students pursing degrees in science and engineering.

“Through the uniqueness of its exhibits and educational programs for students, Tellus Science Museum is making a positive and immediate impact on education,” said State Rep. Paul Battles, R-Cartersville. “The museum improves the quality of life for our region.”
