To celebrate the downtown Cartersville shop will remain open until 8 p.m. during the next "First Friday," coming up on Aug. 2.

In 1961, Agan's Bakery started up in downtown Cartersville, changing the way people looked at everything from decadent desserts to homemade rolls.   This business was started by Pledger Agan who based Agan’s on quality products, customer service, and understanding and meeting customer demand.  The extraordinary flavors that escape from the Agan’s kitchen is world famous - demonstrating how to achieve the ultimate in flavors and freshness. Expanding upon the principals in which they were founded upon, Abbey Agan Ross is pleased to announce that the Cartersville bakery will offer Dippin’ Dots by the end of the month.

Many remember their first Dippin’ Dots experience—the chill of the first bite and the explosion of flavor as the dots begin to melt in their mouth. It is no surprise that Dippin’ Dots is the number one ice cream for fun and has been loved by kids of all ages for more than two decades. Most importantly, Dippin' Dots are made from fresh dairy ingredients flavored with a variety of fun, fruity, enticing and even exotic flavors. Those ingredients are frozen almost instantly in liquid nitrogen, a common element in the atmosphere used commercially for flash freezing. After production, Dippin' Dots are packaged and shipped worldwide.  You can find them at theme parks, festivals and places people gather to have fun – and now also in historic Downtown Cartersville.

“We are so excited to have Dippin’ Dots join the Agan’s Bakery family. We will have 3 oz. and 5 oz. cups, as well as eight flavors to choose from," Ross said of the new offering. "We surveyed a number of our customers via social media to get their feedback on their favorite varieties, and are going to have a great selection for customers.”

In 1988, Dippin' Dots Founder Curt Jones changed the way the world enjoys ice cream.  Jones, a microbiologist, pioneered the process of cryogenic encapsulation, a scientific way of saying he used super-cold freezing methods to make little beads of ice cream. Not only were the ice cream beads delicious and fun to eat, Jones knew that flash-freezing the ice cream ingredients would lock in flavor and freshness.

“Dippin’ Dots is a unique product, and one that is enjoyed by people of all ages,” said Cartersville Downtown Development Authority Manager Tara Currier. “I don’t know much else that goes as well together as ice cream and cookies; take specialty cookies and other delicious baked goodies and combine that with a very different twist on your traditional ice cream, and you have quite the product offering! I am so happy for Agan’s Bakery, and know that this will be another great reason for people to stop in and shop at one of downtown’s oldest businesses.”

Dippin’ Dots will be available at Agan’s by the end of July, and to celebrate, will remain open until 8 p.m. during the next “First Friday,” coming up on Aug. 2.

Held the first Friday of each month in downtown Cartersville, “First Friday” events allow for extended hours to enjoy downtown as a number of retail merchants stay open until 8 p.m. to allow customers to experience all that downtown Cartersville has to offer, and also enjoy bluegrass music which is scattered throughout the downtown district.

Agan’s Bakery is open Tuesday through Saturday, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., in historic downtown Cartersville at 141 West Main Street.
