3 Outdoor, Sporting Goods Store Set for Cartersville, Area

While Academy Sports + Outdoors is set for the old Kmart facility in Cartersville, Cabela's, which abandoned plans for an Adairsville location some time ago, announced plans for an Acworth store.

In addition to the Brass Pro Shops outlet store set for LakePoint Sporting Community & Town Center in Emerson, two additional sporting goods retailers are coming to the Cartersville area.

Cabela's, which sells sporting, hunting, fishing and other items for outdoor activities, announced today it will open a store in the Cherokee County portion of nearby Acworth, after dropping plans for an Adairsville location in northern Bartow County.

Cabela's abandoned its plans for an Adairsville store some five years ago due to tax concerns and "some no-growth forces in the northern Bartow community," BartowHeadlines.com reports.

The Acworth Cabela's store is set to open by the fall of 2014, according to the company, a short time before the likely opening of Bass Pro Shops at LakePoint in Emerson, which now is expected in late 2014 or early 2015, according to The Daily Tribune News.
