Cartersville Under Flash Flood Watch

The watch is in effect until Friday morning.

Cartersville is under a flash flood watch through Friday morning, according to an afternoon bulletin from the National Weather Service in Peachtree City.

"Rainfall of 4 to 6 inches appear likely with localized higher amounts possible through Friday morning. These amounts will be sufficient to produce flash flooding in the watch area," according to the bulletin.

The National Weather Service urges people to take the following precautions:

  • Do not attempt to cross water-covered bridges, dips or low-water crossings.
  • Never try to to cross flowing stream—even a small one—on foot.
  • To escape rising water, move up to higher ground.
