Just like many of you, I watched the VP debate last night. Joe Biden displayed why he has made it in the Senate for so many years by being somewhat knowledgeable and articulate. I sensed that he also had his marching orders to go on the attack and not show any weaknesses. Without a doubt, he attacked, and attacked in a way that I found to be offputting. Smug looks, inappropriate smiles and constant interruptions of his opponent emphasized to me that he was doing everything he could to minimize the impact of Paul Ryan. But he didn't follow the rules as he attempted to do this. He was rude. He was not gracious. At times, downright nasty.
With the recent poor performance of the President in his debate with challenger Mitt Romney, Biden was supposed to regain some lost ground by not being timid. I suppose he succeeded but, but at what cost?
