“Any type of homemade art or craft, paintings, photography, woodworking, knotting, wreaths, jewelry, pottery, anything considered artistic and handcrafted we’d love to have them,” said Karen Barnhart, president of Friends of the Library. “Being an inaugural event, we’re hoping to reach capacity. We’ve already reserved several booths.”

The craft show is scheduled to be held Saturday, Oct. 29, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. No admission will be charged to attend the event. Concessions will be available as well as a prize raffle for all attendees.

All booth rental fees and event raffle proceeds will go to the Bartow County Library System.

Friends of the Library is on mission to raise more than just funding through the event, hoping that the craft show will help to raise awareness of the library and all the resources it has to offer the public.

“We’re looking at this as an opportunity for people to see that we have a great library system,” said Barnhart. “If you never go, you wouldn’t know. This is a good way to get the community involved.”

Friends of the Library has gone to great lengths to reach many different facets of society since its conception more than 10 years ago by hosting events such as a festival of trees auction and 5K races. The craft fair is meant to appeal to those with particular interest in art and crafts and to help bring attention to the diversity of local talent in Cartersville.

“Our mission is to raise money for the library but we also want to be advocates for the community,” said Barnhart. “We know a lot of folks like to do crafts and it’d be nice if there were an outlet for them. We decided a craft fair would be a great way to do that.”

For more information and to reserve a booth contact Karen Barnhart at 770–382–4779 or send her an email at barnhartk@bellsouth.net.

Active members of Friends of the Library will receive a $10 registration discount.
