Georgia Courthouses, a Pictorial Tour of the State

Stan Thomason, an engineer with a passion for courthouses, photography and the legal system, will lecture in a power point presentation on the courthouses of Georgia.  The program, which is free and open to the public, promises to give a close look at some of the state’s best examples of architecture.  Examining one of mankind’s finest forms of artistic expression, this program hopes to give insight into the life style and culture of Georgians.  According to Lane Duncan, architect, “Enduring architecture, no less than any other thoughtful work of art, whether it is painting, music or literature, has a story to tell.  That story is the outward expression of an inner world of ideas, both timely and eternal.”

Guest lecturer, Stan Thomason, is a professional engineer and a professional land surveyor in Georgia.  He received his civil engineering degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology and his Masters degree from Georgia State University.  He formed Thomason Engineering in 2000 as an Engineering, Surveying and Siting Firm specializing in Facility Siting for Electric Utilities.  Currently, he is serving as Licensing Engineer for Southern Nuclear.

Formerly, he was Location Engineer for Georgia Power Company, having joined the industry in 1982.  He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, has served as Past President of the Surveying and Mapping Society of Georgia (Atlanta) and as Past President of the International Right of Way Association (Georgia).  He has served as Public Information Meeting Designer, Location Committee Chairman, and Location Expert Witness for Georgia Power Company.  Thomason’s work in land matters in Georgia has afforded him the opportunity to work in most of the counties of the state.
