3-Day Electronic Music Festival Coming to Kingston Downs in Bartow County

CounterPoint Music & Arts Festival is returning to Georgia in the spring of 2014.

The Cartersville-Bartow County Convention & Visitors Bureau has announced the electronic musical festival, CounterPoint Music & Arts Festival, will be held in Bartow County in the spring of 2014.

It's an outdoor music festival—a 3-day rain-or-shine event with camping—that will feature more than four stages and a multitude of performers from all over the world, according to counterpointfestival.com. Bars at each stage and throughout the festival grounds will serve a variety of alcoholic beverages.  

"First-year expectations are that this event will attract 20,000 fans to the three-day music festival," CVB Deputy Director Regina Wheeler said in an email. "The Cartersville-Bartow County Convention & Visitors Bureau is working with MCP Presents to assist with all their needs.  

"MCP Presents has signed a 20-year lease and hopes to develop other weekend music festivals of different genres in the coming years to add to their production portfolio."

MCP Presents is a national production, promotion and event management company with 12 years of festival promotion experience, is an industry leader in the international electronic music scene, according to the press release. Known for producing world-class events such as: Camp Bisco Music + Arts Festival in Upstate New York; Lights All Night in Dallas, TX; The Buku Project in New Orleans, LA; and The Echo Project in Fairburn, GA. MCP also manages elements of internationally renowned events such as TomorrowWorld and more.

Counterpoint debuted in Atlanta in 2012, according to Creative Loafing, and moved to New York in 2013, according to dancingastronaut.com

It's returning to Georgia for 2014, according to the press release, which reads: 

"After a successful launch in 2012, the CounterPoint Music & Arts Festival will return in 2014 with a new look at a new venue.  

"Set for Friday, April 25; Saturday, April 26; and Sunday, April 27, the event will now be held at beautiful Kingston Downs, home of the Atlanta Steeplechase for the past 20 years.

"Surrounded on three sides by the Etowah River, the 5,000-acre CounterPoint venue will be set among wide-open. perfectly-groomed green-grass fields and rolling hills, with beautiful views of the Georgia mountains in the distance.  

"The centrally located CounterPoint site is also easily accessible from most of the biggest cities throughout the southeast and only 50 minutes from Atlanta.

C3 Presents apparently also will be involved in the production, according to the release.
 
It creates, books, markets and produces live experiences, concerts, and private events, the release says. C3 is the force behind Austin City Limits Music Festival in Austin, TX, and Lollapalooza in Chicago.
