A Colorful Summer at the Booth

Let your kids' imaginations run wild at the Booth Western Art Museum's Art Academy Summer Camp.

Calling all creative kids who like to have fun and even get to make a little mess in the process! has opened registration for the second and third sessions of their Booth Art Academy Summer Camp.

Offering a wide variety of art activities for children of all ages and experience levels, kids can choose from classes teaching pottery, painting, drawling, sculpture, print-making and mixed media. All camp supplies are included in the cost of camp attendance.

“We offer the camp every summer and we always have a good turn out,” said Marsha Dillard. “The kids come away with several pieces of art.”

Camps with openings still available include the Junior Pottery class for ages 7 and up. Children will get the opportunity to make clay artwork by hand, try out their skills on a real-life potter’s wheel, have their work fired in the kiln and ultimately glaze their masterpieces however they choose.  

Session Two of Junior Pottery will be held June 28 to July 1 from 9 a.m. to noon, while Session Three takes place July 12 to 15. The price of the class is $100 for museum members and $120 for non-members.

Also currently accepting registrants is the Art Bugs class geared toward younger children between the ages of 4 and 6. This class consists of painting, drawing, story time and group activities.

Session Two of Art Bugs will be held July 26 to July 28 from 9 to 11 a.m. The cost is $60 per child for museum members and $75 for non-members.

Art Explorers is also offered for children between the ages of 7and 15.

Kids will get the opportunity to explore the artwork of the Booth Western Art Museum and then let their inspired imaginations run wild as they learn new techniques to drawing, painting, sculpting and many other creative activities.

The class will be held June 21 to 24 from 9 a.m. to noon. The price of the class is $100 for museum members and $120 for non-members.
