Here are workshops, shows, science and more — pick and choose from this week’s array of events.

FAMILY BEST BETS OF THE WEEK

Find out what's happening in Cartersvillewith free, real-time updates from Patch.

Where/When: Saturday, 10 a.m.

Why Go: Bring your kids to where they will learn how to build a wooden race car with a pullback motor. They will also receive a free apron, goggles, project themed patch and certification of merit. Sign your kids up ahead of time on the website so Lowe's knows to expect them.

Where/When: Saturday at , 7 p.m.

Why Go: Talented, local seniors put on a talent and variety show. A great event for the whole family!

Pricing: Free, but tickets are required

Where/When: Open 24 hours

Why Go: Take advantage of the mild winter days. With playgrounds, a batting cage, walking trail, picnic areas, restrooms, tennis and basketball courts, and sports fields galore, there is something to entertain everyone here.

Pricing: Free, how great is that?

Where/When: Friday at . 5 to 10 p.m.

Why Go: Curious George will be at the museum for Family Science Night. Activities include a tour the Observatory and look through the telescope, constructing a cell, making an H20 bracelet, controlling a solar, wind or hydrolysis model car and more! There will also be a special planetarium schedule with kid-friendly shows.

Pricing: Adults $12 and kids, ages 3 to 7, $8. Members are free.

VIDEO GAME DAY

Where/When: Tuesday at the Cartersville Library. 4:30 to 6p.m.

Why Go: Kids 12 to 18 are invited to stop by the library to play videogames on the big screen. Wii and PS2 available.
