Why Go: It might not be fun, per se, but it is necessary and it is this weekend. Local physicians will be performing free cancer screenings (oral, head and neck) at the Hope Center.

Where/When: on Saturday from 6 to 10 p.m.

Why Go: Catch up with friends while you help a great cause. Open to all Cass High alumni, faculty and staff.  Proceeds from the reunion will benefit the American Cancer Society.

Pricing: $70 each or $100 per couple

Where/When: on Saturday. Call for time: 770-975-0055.

Why Go: Start your Saturday off right with a morning stroll listening to, looking at and learning about local birds. Expert Victor Williams will lead the expedition.

Pricing: $5 parking.

Where/When: on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday 1 to 5 p.m. Exhibit ends Sept. 11.

Why Go: Check out what’s inspiring art from your friends and neighbors. Members of the Booth Artists Guild, a group that meets monthly to learn about art, are sharing their own masterpieces.

Pricing: Price of admission: $10 adults; $8 seniors (65 and over); $7 students with ID; $3 children 12 and under; museum members and active military are free.  

Where/When: Pettit Preserve (Vineyard Road, Cartersville) on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Why Go: The Preserve only opens its gates to the general public a few times a year so take advantage of this opportunity to explore this beautiful piece of nature. It will be a day of hiking, storytelling, entertainment, food and more. View the day’s schedule .
