Tornado Rips Through Cartersville, Bartow

A Cartersville High School student talks about the apparent tornado that left a trail of destruction.

Cartersville was in a state of emergency last night when several storms and a tornado hit. I was taking a nap and woke up to the noise of sirens and the tornado warning.

The county was hit leaving more than 5,000 residents without power because of trees falling on power lines. The fire and police departments were on the move, having no time to rest.

Many trees fell, some even hitting some houses. Cartersville residents took cover in the safest rooms they could find. Though not many were hurt, residents were pretty scared, but came out safe so that's a great thing.
