Take a Ride on the Wild Side

The North Georgia State Fair at Jim R. Miller Park in Marietta opens Thursday and runs through Oct. 2. Here's a breakdown of this year's fair from hours to event to prices.

If you don't get a chance to visit or have been there, done that, and still want more thrill rides and carnival food, the North Georgia State Fair at  in Marietta opens to the public today and runs through Oct. 2.

The theme this year is "Take a Ride on the Wild Side," which celebrates the new Wildcat Roller Coaster.

  • The Kachunga and the Alligator Show: Monday through Thursday 7 and 9 p.m., Friday 6, 8 and 10 p.m., Saturday 3, 6 and 9 p.m. and Sunday 2, 5 and 8 p.m.
  • Hypnotists Tammy Harris Barton: Monday through Friday 6:30 and 8:30 p.m., Saturday 3:30, 6:30 and 9:30 p.m. and Sunday 2, 6 and 8 p.m. and
  • Keith King Bike Stunt Show: Monday through Friday 6:30, 7:30 and 8:30 p.m., Saturday 2:30, 4:30, 6:30 and 9:30 p.m. and Sunday 2:30, 4:30, 6:30 and 9:30 p.m.

Returning from previous years are:

  • K9s in Flight: Monday through Friday 6, 7 and 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 2:30, 5:30 and 8:30 p.m.;
  • Oscar the Robot;
  • Brian Ruth "Master of the Chainsaw:" Monday through Friday 5:30, 7:30 and 9:30 p.m., Saturday 1:30, 3:30, 6 and 9:30 p.m. and Sunday 2:30, 5:30 and 8:30 p.m.;
  • Wit Carson Petting Zoo and Pony Rides: Open daily during fair hours;
  • Award-winning non-commercial exhibits and flower shows; and
  • The Great James H. Drew Exposition Carnival Midway.

All of the shows are free with paid admission to the fair.

Daily Schedule and Concerts

Sept. 22

Sept. 23: Guests with non-winning Georgia Lottery tickets will receive $1 off adult admission. Friday is Senior Citizens Day, which means free admission all day for seniors 55 and up. From 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., there will be senior games and activities. At 8 p.m., Colt Ford will be in concert.

Sept. 24: From 10 to 11 a.m., there will be free admission and rides. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., pay $25 for unlimited rides (good until close). At 3 p.m., the Odor-Eaters Rotten Sneaker Contest will be on the Cobb EMC Local Entertainment Stage. Josh Kelley will be in concert at 8 p.m.

Sept. 25: Children 12 and under will be admitted free all day. Receive $1 off adult admission with a church bulletin. From 12:30 to 2 p.m., admission and rides for students are free with tickets distributed in school. From 4 to 6 p.m., Curtis Blackwell and the Dixie Bluegrass Boys will perform.

Sept. 26: Pay $15 for unlimited rides. The Pebblebrook School of Performing Arts Company will be on stage at 8 p.m.

Sept. 27: Students 18 and under will be admitted free all day. Pay $18 for unlimited rides. The Beautiful Baby Contest for children 0 to 3 years old is at 6:30 p.m.

Sept. 28: Pay $18 for unlimited rides. Chris Young will be in concert at 8 p.m.

Sept. 29: Perry will be in concert at 8 p.m.

Sept. 30: Bring five non-perishable can good items and receive one free adult admission; bring three non-perishable can good items and receive one free student admission. Big Daddy Weave will be in concert at 8 p.m.

Oct. 1: Bring five non-perishable can good items and receive one free adult admission; bring three non-perishable can good items and receive one free student admission. From 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., admission and rides are free. From 11 a.m. to 3 a.m., pay $25 for unlimited rides (good till close). There will be a chainsaw carving auction at 7 p.m. on the Cobb EMC Local Entertainment Stage. Mark Willis will be in concert at 8 p.m.

Oct. 2: Bring five non-perishable can good items and receive one free adult admission; bring three non-perishable can good items and receive one free student admission. From 12:30 to 2 p.m., admission and rides for students are free. Students must have a ticket distributed in school.

  • Thursday, Sept. 22: 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.;
  • Friday, Sept. 23: 4 p.m. to midnight;
  • Saturday, Sept. 24: 10 a.m. to midnight;
  • Sunday, Sept. 25: 12:30 to 10 p.m.;
  • Monday through Thursday, Sept. 26 to Sept. 29: 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.;
  • Friday, Sept. 30: 4 p.m. to midnight;
  • Saturday, Oct. 1: 10 a.m. to midnight; and
  • Sunday, Oct. 2: 12:30 to 10 p.m.

Admission

  • Adults: $5
  • Students (7-18): $2
  • Children 6 and under: Free
  • Parking: $3

Ride Tickets

All rides require two or more tickets.

  • Individual tickets: $1
  • 22 Tickets: $20
  • 55 Tickets: $50

ATMs are available on site.

Tickets are available at half price at all metro Atlanta Walgreens until Sept. 23.
