Street, Road Closes for Railroad Work

Expect delays on Main Street and a connecting portion of GA Highway 61 on Monday and Tuesday.

If your daily route takes you on Main Street or GA Highway 61 from Douthit Ferry to the merge with GA Highway 113 to the intersection with U.S. Highway 41, take note of emergency railroad work that could cause delays.

According to CSX, the railroad will be performing emergency repairs on its rail line crossing Main Street in Cartersville. "Delays are to be expected and all but necessary local traffic should avoid the area," the press release states.

The repairs will begin Monday at 7:30 a.m. and are expected to continue through Tuesday at 5 p.m. Traffic will be directed to a detour route using Old Mill Road and South Erwin Street. Officials say to proceed with caution.
