Space Shuttle Art and a Commissioners Meeting

What do you need to know today? A lot happens in our not-so-little city, but we'll keep you informed.

1) We were on such a roll of pretty weather. Alas, there is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms today with a high near 80 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. It will be mostly cloudy during the day with a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms tonight with a low around 60 degrees.

2) The Bartow County Commissioners will meet this morning at 10 a.m. for a special called meeting. There is only one agenda item concerning federal monies for the Starcrest nursing home, which sits on county-owned property.

3) The lowest gas in town Thursday was $3.51 at the at 501 N. Tennessee St. and Martin Luther King Drive.

4) The Tellus Museum is having a lecture at 7 p.m. on the Space Shuttle Program. Mort Kunstler, a historical artist, was commissioned by Rockwell International in the 1980s to develop a series of paintings documenting the Space Shuttle Program. The resulting six major paintings, as well as portraits and a preliminary sketch, are currently on loan to Tellus.
