Oak Leaf Church Is Changing Names

The church distinguished by the leaf shape on its South Tennessee Street building will be called West Ridge Church.

is set to part with its leaf-shaped symbol, as it changes names following a merger with another church.

According to Campus Pastor Tony Morgan on tonymorganlive.com, the church will begin implementing the change with signage throughout the next several weeks at its Cartersville location. The name change also will be carried through to the church's website and paper communications.

"We will use this opportunity to sync up branding in our kid’s and student ministries so we’re using the same language at every campus," Morgan said on his website. "We’ll also be adding license plates, stickers, T-shirts, invite cards, etc. to help folks in Cartersville share their story and invite their friends."

In January, Oak Leaf merged with West Ridge Church, which met in two Paulding County locations. Oak Leaf's Cartersville location was a West Ridge campus, and West Ridge also supports Oak Leaf's Canton campus.

Morgan said church staff and volunteers have been "praying through the change," and decided to move forward for a number of reasons, including easing confusion and unifying the church that meets in several locations.

"Brian Bloye, our senior pastor, has already shared the vision is to open three more campuses in our region in the next three years," Morgan said. "Obviously, having one name and one brand helps us keep unity across all the locations where our church meets."
