NWS Issues Flood Watch

Bartow along with several north Georgia counties is expected to get significant rain.

In effect from Wednesday morning through Thursday afternoon, Bartow County, including Cartersville, is under a Flood Watch issued by the National Weather Service. Forecasters say the ground is saturated from recent rains and another 2 to 3 inches Wednesday through Thursday will result in considerable runoff into rivers, streams and creeks.

Showers and a few thunderstorms with moderate to heavy rainfall are expected to move in early Wednesday morning and heavy rain will spread across the region during the day Wednesday, the watch states.

With an average of 2 to 3 inches of rain and higher amounts possible, creeks and streams already at bankfull or minor flood will likely reach or exceed flood stage Wednesday though early Thursday.
