It's going to be another hot day in Cartersville, according to the National Weather Service. Look for temperatures to approach 94 degrees. Thankfully, there is a 30 percent chance of rain after 2 p.m. Winds will come from the northwest at 5 mph. Tonight, expect the temperature to fall to 67 degrees, with the same 30 percent chance of rain until 8 p.m. The winds are expected to die down.

Things You Should Know

  • If you or your children are participating in summer sports, it is essential to keep not only hydrated, but also well fed. Wednesday, a freshman just 20 minutes into football practice because he hadn't eaten all day.
  • The will host a dinner and present “Once Upon a Time,” a living history story about Native Americans from the 17th century to modern times, on Thursday, Aug. 18, at 6:30 p.m. Tickets cost $25 for Booth members and $30 for nonmembers. Call 770-387-1300 to purchase tickets.
