High Heat Returns, Railroad Work Continues
What do you need to know today? A lot happens in our not-so-little city, but we'll keep you informed.
Weather
Extreme heat returns today with heat index values as high as 100, according to the National Weather Service. It should be a mostly sunny day and partly cloudy night with a chance of thunderstorms mainly between 2 and 8 p.m.
Expect a high near 94 and low of about 71. A Code Orange Air Quality Alert in effect today means the air could be unhealthy for sensitive groups. Children, those sensitive to ozone and people with heart or lung disease should limit exertion outdoors during late afternoon and early evening, when ozone concentrations are the highest.
Still in effect, a Hazardous Weather Outlook warns of cloud-to-ground lightning, strong winds and heavy rain if storms pop up.
